School Days

Filed under: Uncategorized — ritenour at 1:06 pm on Friday, May 15, 2009

Hi Everyone!

Can you believe we only have 18 and a half days of school left?  It seems like this year flew by!  Next week we are going on our field trip to see the Detroit TIgers play the Texas Rangers!  I wonder who will win.  Should I wear my Ranger shirt or my Tiger shirt?????  I know that we are going to have a blast no matter who wins!

Please tell me about something you’ve enjoyed about 5th grade or something you are looking forward to!

Talent Show

Filed under: Uncategorized — ritenour at 4:11 pm on Wednesday, April 1, 2009

I am so excited about our talent show tonight and tomorrow morning. My students have been practicing their acts, making backgrounds, and planning their costumes for one whole month. Today we had our last practice and everyone was fabulous!

I am going to help work the soundboard tonight. I hope I can figure out all of the buttons and sliders on the board. Thank goodness my cousin’s husband knows something about soundboards and was able to give me some tips last night.

I’d like to know about your talent show experience. What did you do in the talent show? How did you prepare for your performance? How did it feel to be on stage? What is your best talent show memory? (As usual, I want to know everything!)

See you at the show tonight!

Winter Break

Filed under: Uncategorized — ritenour at 2:12 pm on Thursday, February 26, 2009

I hope all of you had a wonderful winter break.  For the most part, I was busy puppy proofing my house. (I didn’t finish!)  Morgan reminded me that I need to make sure I don’t have any electrical cords or plants on the floor.  They are both harmful to puppies.

Near the end of the week, Mr. Ritenour and I went to a place called German Village.  It is located in Columbus, Ohio.  There were a lot of cool shops, restaurants, and  a book store that had 32 rooms full of books!  We also found a fudge shop…well, our noses found it. (If you are in my class  you know that Mr. Ritenour and I love chocolate!)  We bought some fudge and it was delicious.

For lunch we ate at a restaurant called Thurman’s Cafe’.  They are famous for their burgers and have been featured on the Travel Channel.  Luckily, Mr. Ritenour and I split a burger because they were huge! (By the way, the burger WAS delicious!)

I’d love to know what you did during winter break, other than sleeping late!

See ya in Room 19!

Love,

Mrs. R.

Valentine’s Party

Filed under: Uncategorized — ritenour at 1:59 pm on Thursday, February 12, 2009

Today we had a fabulous Valentine party.  The classroom was covered with balloons, Valentine cards, and sweet treats.

I enjoyed watching all of you (my students) dance around the room.  I think our party was a huge success.

What did you like about our party?

Bella

Filed under: Uncategorized — ritenour at 1:43 pm on Sunday, February 8, 2009

Hi Everyone,

For those of you who don’t know, I will be getting a new puppy on March 21st. Her name is Bella and she is a Shichon. (If you google “Shichon” you can get an idea of what she will look like when she is older.)

Bella is half Shih-tzu and half Bichon Frise. She was born on January 11th and will be coming to Michigan as soon as she is old enough.

Her owner, Vicki, has been sending pictures of Bella each week. At first she looked like a tiny black and white pinto bean but now she’s starting to look like a little fuzzy puppy.

If you have any puppy training tips, please share them with me! (I’ve already bought her some pink long-john pajamas, a pink dress, some bows, and a black and white coat! I hope she likes doggie fashion!)
